This one is so different that it is hard to know where to even start.
The curtain between the Holy and Most Holy Place represents how sinful man had been cut off from direct access to the Holy Spirit. Man had a body and a soul but he was spiritually dead in his sins. We recognize that distinction today when we refer to the physical, mental and spiritual realms. Christ died to restore that spiritual relationship that sin cut off. He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in each of us. The Bible says that, as New Covenant Christians, we are His temple -- the replacement for the temple shadow that Moses built in the wilderness. It is not some physical sanctuary in heaven at some physical location far away in the cosmos.
Verse 20 of the SDA Clear Word Bible says, "In this sense, the curtain is His humanity." That is not true at all. It represented the barrier between God's Spirit and our spirit.
Verse 22 says, "washed clean by baptism." It doesn't say baptism in the Scriptures.
As we have seen above, Adventism teaches a totally different gospel from Scripture. |
Hebrews 10:19-22 (King James Version)
19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
21 And having an high priest over the house of God;
22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:19-22 (New International Version)
19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus,
20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,
21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God,
22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:19-22 (SDA Clear Word Bible)
19 Therefore, my brothers, we have complete freedom to come to the Sanctuary in heaven and with confidence come into the very presence of God because of the blood of Jesus.
20 Christ opened a new way through the Sanctuary curtain when His flesh was torn on the cross. In this sense, the curtain is His humanity. Through Him we can always come into the very presence of God, because Christ is alive forevermore.
21 And since we have a high priest who has been put in charge of all of God's household,
22 let us come into God's presence with confidence, in full assurance of faith rooted in Him, cleansed from a guilty conscience by the blood of Christ and washed clean by baptism from the filth of this world.
