27 And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
28 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. |

27 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel."
28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments.

27 Then the Lord said to Moses, "Write all these things in a book, because they're all in harmony with the other instructions I've given you as part of my Covenant with you and with Israel.
28 Again, Moses was on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. All this time he ate and drank nothing, but was kept by the Presence of the Lord. That's when the Lord wrote on the tablets of stone which Moses chiseled out the same commandments that He had written before.
