Ellen White or Holy Scripture - Which is the final court of appeal?

  1. Question: As a Seventh-day Adventist, do you believe that Ellen White is the infallible interpreter of Holy Scripture for the Seventh-day Adventist denomination?
    1. Yes - That places Ellen White over the Bible. [Notes 1.a]
      • Failure: As Christians we believe that the Bible is the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged.
    2. No - Either we have agreement that the Bible is the ultimate authority, or an attempt will be made next to discredit the Bible and put it on the same level as Ellen White's writings. [Notes 1.b]
      1. Question: Please provide one example where her doctrinal interpretation of the Bible is in error.
        1. Yes - Can provide an example [Notes 1.b.1.a]
          • Success: We both believe that the Bible alone is the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. We both furthermore agree that Ellen White, on the occasion given, provided a doctrinal interpretation of the Bible that was in error.
            1. Question: As a Seventh-day Adventist do you believe that the Bible is the complete revelation of God's will for salvation?
              1. Yes [Notes 1.b.1.a.1.a]
                • Success: We both believe that the Bible is the complete revelation of God's will for salvation. Proceed to 2.0.
              2. No [Notes 1.b.1.a.1.b]
                • Failure: As Christians we believe that the Bible is the complete revelation of God's will for salvation. Go to 1.b.1.b.1. "Do you believe that the Bible is true?"
        2. No - Can't provide an example. Most likely an attempt will be made here to discredit the Bible and put it on the same level as Ellen White's writings. At this point the Adventist is desperate to somehow retain Ellen White. [Notes 1.b.1.b ]
          1. Question: Do you believe that the Bible is true?
            1. Yes [Notes 1.b.1.b.1.a]
              • Failure: Contradictory failure to provide one example where her doctrinal interpretation of the Bible is in error. Return to 1.0.
            2. No [Notes 1.b.1.b.1.b]
              • Failure: We now have to prove to the Adventist, as we would to an Agnostic, that the Bible is true. When done return to 1.0.
