Exposing Adventism - Both Jesus and Satan archangels

I'll bet you didn't know that Adventism teaches that both Jesus and Satan are archangels. I guess that makes them equals?

Christ is an archangel:

Christ resurrected Moses, and took him to heaven. This enraged Satan, and he accused the Son of God of invading his dominion by robbing the grave of his lawful prey. Jude says of the resurrection of Moses, "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee." (Con 26.2)

Jude presents the example of Christ. He says, "Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil He disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee" [Jude 9]. (19MR 106.2)
Satan is an archangel:
"Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry." Rebellion originated with Satan. Notwithstanding the exalted position which he occupied among the heavenly host, he became dissatisfied because he was not accorded supreme honor. Hence he questioned God's purposes and impugned his justice. He bent all his powers to allure the angels from their allegiance. The fact that he was an archangel, glorious and powerful, enabled him to exert a mighty influence. His complaints against God's government, at first met with no favor; yet being urged again and again, they were finally accepted by those who had before been loyal and happy subjects of the King of Heaven. There was not the shadow of justification or excuse for disaffection; but envy and jealousy, once cherished, gained a power that paralyzed reason and destroyed honor and loyalty. As the result, Satan and all his sympathizers were cast out of Heaven. (ST, September 14, 1882 par. 9)

No wonder the September 2004 cover of Signs of the Times, an official Seventh-day Adventist publication, showed them "duking it out" with light sabers!

Our Observation

We have both Satan and Jesus being "archangels". Since Ellen White teaches that Satan and Christ are both archangels, then she is making Christ and Satan peers. Adventism is not alone in this regard. Mormonism also teaches that they are peers.

And if you compare this with her Michael teaching, then this proves that she was teaching that Jesus was not God but was a created angel -- which is also consistent with her other statements to this effect.

This disproves Adventism's argument that Ellen White does not teach that an "archangel" is a created being -- unless she's saying that Satan is not a created being.

Interestingly Christ evidently did not even have as much power as His angels -- at least according to Ellen White. Adventism teaches that all the miracles of Christ were done through angels:

"The angels of God are ever moving up and down from earth to Heaven, and from Heaven to earth. All the miracles of Christ performed for the afflicted and suffering were, by the power of God, through the ministration of angels. Christ condescended to take humanity, and thus he unites his interests with the fallen sons and daughters of Adam here below, while his divinity grasps the throne of God. And thus Christ opens the communication of man with God, and God with man. All the blessings from God to man are through the ministration of holy angels." (Spirit of Prophecy, Vol 2, p. 76, Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, January 21, 1873)
God's Word tells us:
John 14:9-14 (New International Version)
9 Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
10 Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
Adventism also teaches that Christ had to devise a plan to become acquainted with various temptations.
At first the angels could not rejoice, for their commander concealed nothing from them, but opened before them the plan of salvation. Jesus told them that he would stand between the wrath of his Father and guilty man, that he would bear iniquity and scorn, and but few would receive him as the Son of God. Nearly all would hate and reject him. He would leave all his glory in heaven, appear upon earth as a man, humble himself as a man, become acquainted by his own experience with the various temptations with which man would be beset, that he might know how to succor those who should be tempted; and that finally, after his mission as a teacher should be accomplished, he would be delivered into the hands of men, and endure almost every cruelty and suffering that Satan and his angels could inspire wicked men to inflict; that he should die the cruelest of deaths, hung up between the heavens and the earth as a guilty sinner; that he should suffer dreadful hours of agony, which even angels could not look upon, but would vail their faces from the sight. Not merely agony of body would he suffer; but mental agony, that with which bodily suffering could in no wise be compared. The weight of the sins of the whole world would be upon him. He told them he would die and rise again the third day, and should ascend to his Father to intercede for wayward, guilty man. (Spiritual Gifts, Volume 1, page 23)
This shows Ellen White's Arian view of Jesus, separate from the Father in that He needed to arrange a pow-wow to produce a plan of salvation after the fall.

It also shows that the angels were informed of this plan before it was enacted. Evidently it didn't occur to Ellen that at this point Satan was among the angels, and this doesn't set well with 1 Corinthians 2:6-8:
6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to naught:
7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
The plan of salvation was kept a secret - if Satan learned of it, history would have been vastly different.
